Doll Face

A bit of whimsy today; two ACEOs I made from odds and ends I had lying around on my desk plus beeswax to hold them all together. I adore these little doll faces I got from Kris a while back. Art cards are both fun and challenging to make as you have such a small space to work on but they are perfect for experimenting with and for showing off small treasures.

Down In The Hole

The studio purge continues. It's slow work as I don't think I'd truly realised the amount of stuff I had lying around just waiting to be dealt with. So I clear a bit then work a bit. Yesterday I made these aceos because I unearthed my watercolours and of course had to use them right away! Oh I do love colour. The sunset one was inspired by the Iron Men that stretch along the shore at Formby. As they rust and are colonised by barnacles they become more and more beautiful in my eyes. There is something profoundly moving about decaying structures and landscapes, or perhaps that's just me.

Meanwhile, in other news, the third season of The Wire has just started on BBC2. So that's my late night viewing taken care of for the foreseeable future.

Art Cards - Part Deux

A couple more in the series I showed the other day, this time with added body swapping! Well I need to entertain myself somehow...

These are for sale on Etsy.

Art Cards

The very first work I sold on ebay was an art card (ACEO). I laboured long and hard over it and was so excited when someone bid on it. I wish I'd kept count of all the ACEOs I've made since then - it's been many!

I still like them, although these days I don't create them as often. They are the perfect way to collect art on a budget and with the minimum need for display space. And from my point of view they are the perfect way to try out new things, to be playful and to solve the challenge of making something artistic in a very small format.

So here's the first two in a series I've been working on. They are for sale here.

Madaleine

I'm having some work done on the house this weekend which means I have to completely clear my living room so it'll be no computer for me. Ugh! So this will probably be my last post for a few days.
See you all on the other side of it!
