Walk in the Park WIP

One of the things I love to do is what you might call illustration work. I like being able to invent places and stories and have fun putting them into a painting.

This is a work-in-progress scan of my latest piece, inked and ready for paint, which I think will be watercolour in this case. I have whole towns and villages in my head and this is a small portion of one of them. It looks sort of French or at any rate European to me but it doesn't have a name yet.

  1. I love your illustrations. This one reminds me of the French books we used to read when we were little and dream about these imaginary places...

May I come and live in your village??

Tech note: I am trying to expand my realm and would really try to use inks but I have NO idea where to start. The US is full of these silly stores with too many commercial tools which in the end are too cute or too fancy for me. Hey, don't get me wrong. I appreciate what everyone else is using but for me, personally, I like to use basic and uncomplicated stuff. Can you help me, please?? Thanks, my dear.

  2. Such a lovely street, I can almost smell vanilla cookies baking and hear polite children asking permission to go on adventures.

Love the style, and would like to see more of the same. Can't wait to see how the final image will come out.

BTW, also love the new picture

  3. Looks like a sunny, flower filled town where people stop to speak to each other and cars are a nuisance.

    Your imagination is inspirational!
