Guardian
Been playing around with transparencies again. Every so often I like to do something a bit gothic and a photograph of a tombstone angel provided by my friend and fellow artist Val seemed perfect for altering. So here's an art card, and yes that is more beeswax. I'm sorry, I'm just addicted, what can I do!

  1. This is fab, Fran!

This is a bit cheeky, so feel free to say no, but I'm working on producing my very first zine at the moment and the theme is cemetaries! I wondered if you would consider letting me use your piece in it?? Let me know what you think. No probs if you prefer not to, thought it was worth asking though!

    Cheers

O-o-o-oh, am I ever glad you stopped by my blog! Otherwise, I would never have seen your awesome art! This "gothic" piece is to die for. How ever did you do that? I assume you inverted the photo of the tomestone angel and put a transparency of a window or columns?? over it.. and wrote on it in black pen?? What is the background? and where did you use wax? Geeze, I love this look. I want to add your blog to my links. Hope that 's ok with you. Sally

  9. Thank you all :D
OK quick summary of construction: card stamped with doorway and coloured inks is the background. Angel tweaked in PS and colour inverted then printed onto a transparency. Handwriting is another transparency. Whole thing layered and finished with melted beeswax!

  10. Thanks for dropping by! You melt it (carefully if you don't want to start a fire) and brush it on. You can use it to adhere layers like glue or just as a finishing coat. It will harden and be lumpy and opaque. Go over it with an iron (but don't use it to iron your clothes afterwards). It will turn transparent and you can smooth it out a bit, or a lot.
    Hope that helps :)
