Tea Ceremony
As I've said here before, I'm fascinated by Japanese culture and the geisha in particular. At the start of the twentieth century there were over 1200 geishas in Kyoto, today there are just 223. I wanted to celebrate these supremely talented women who spend years studying and perfecting their art yet are dwindling in number in the face of modern production-line culture.
This is an 8x8 gallery wrapped canvas which I completed very recently and thought I'd show you as it seems appropriate for the Tea theme. Hope you enjoy it!

  6. This piece is simply superb. I suspect the orginal is even better. It reminds me of Joseph Cornell and I mean that as high praise.

Wow, I love this. That pink/fusia/red/ish hue running through it is so haunting as is the subject. Wish I could get some repetition in my works. You did a great job here.

  9. Love the colors. The composition reminds me of a piece of a filmstrip...very curious about where it leads.
