House in the Dunes

I was brought up on the coast although it's many years since I left. I still harbour a dream of returning, perhaps to somewhere isolated and wild, and living in a little house with nothing but the beach between me and the ocean.
I would go beachcombing every day and look for driftwood bleached like old bones, sea glass and pale shells and the myriad other things which the sea leaves as gifts for the curious. Because I miss the sea; the smell of it, the roar and swish of the waves, sunlight and storms and the cry of sea birds. So I paint it and talk about it and wait.

This is another oil pastel piece and I love the cheerfulness of the little red beach house, it reminds me of Moomins.
For sale here.

  1. Fran, you write so beautifully!!... I can hear the ocean waves and smell the salty air. I can almost feel the sand between my toes! :)

Your cozy cottage by the sea is wonderful!... lovely, soft, cheerful colors... it brings back fond memories for me!
